Triploid Seeds Grower’s Feedback: 6 Months Since Release

Triploid Seeds Grower’s Feedback: 6 Months Since Release

Last Spring, Trilogene Seeds released a line of triploid cannabis seeds. Now that the growing season is ending let’s catch up with some of our friends to see how their plants are looking!

Triploid Cannabis Seeds

If you aren’t already privy to triploid cannabis genetics, here’s a quick breakdown. Triploid plants possess three sets of chromosomes (30 total), ten from one parent and 20 from another. The extra sets of chromosomes increase the chances of desirable plants being passed down, increasing yields, more cannabinoids, better acclimation to environmental issues, less stress, and seedless buds.

Triploid Grower Feedback

We recently heard from a customer with over 20 years of experience growing hydroponic cannabis. They purchased a single Sour Bremix 3n seed, which they germinated and made the mother of 4 clones.

Current Crop

This season, our customer’s current crop consists of the Sour Bremix 3n clones and 5 diploid strains, four Mango Sherbet clones from Humboldt Seed Co., and one Cheese clone from Barney’s Seeds.

At the time of this review, the crop is on day 28 of flower.

Growing Conditions

Light

The hydro cultivator uses Revolution Avici 1150 programmable LED lights. These lights allow the control of the blue/white/red ratio throughout the vegetative and flowering cycles.

General Light Schedule

They use 100% blue, white, and red during the vegetative stage. In flower, they begin with 100% blue, white, and red and decrease light intensity after week six to mimic the Sun's natural intensity during the Fall months.

At week six, contrary to the natural Sun in the Fall, they increase blue and decrease white and red to push terpene production due to UV stress. Then, after week eight, they decrease the light cycle to 11 hours/on and 13 hours/off.

Grow Method

The triploid clones are grown using a 40-gallon nutrient tank with a 3/4" pump main delivery line into two 1/4" drip lines per plant, each equipped with RainBird 4 GPH drippers. Two are used per plant as a line clog failsafe.

Grow Space

Our customer’s grow area consists of the Revolution Micro light suspended above a 4'x4' table and two-gallon ebb-and-flow pots. The grow table volume is sufficient to prevent the room from flooding should the nutrient pump accidentally remain on due to user error (which has happened).

Grow Medium

The pots have about 3 inches of clay Hydroton pebbles and a homemade mix of coco coir and perlite. Note the clay pebbles in the bottom of the ebb-and-flow net pots; ALWAYS ensure root oxygen exposure.

General Nutrient Schedule

Each plant in the grow was fed nutrients from General Hydroponics, Armor Si, FloraMicro, FloraGrow, and FloraBloom.

During the approximate four-week vegetative cycle, nitrogen and pH-corrected nutrients increased relative to phosphorus along with maximum strength. In flowers, they decreased in nitrogen relative to phosphorus weekly with maximum strength and pH-corrected nutrients. The plant’s nutrient strength decreased at week 6 of flower. At week 9 through harvest, they progress to nearly pure water and pH-corrected nutrients.

Observations

Our customer has been growing only diploids since 2002 and was incredibly impressed by the SBX in every category, from stem thickness to its huge, fat fan leaves. They call SBX "Jurassic weed." Like the dinosaurs, “it’s just bigger and much more of a robust presence than the Mango and Cheese diploids next to them.”

Other Grower Reviews

Charles Hamilton left the following 5-star review for the product Sour Bremix 3n Triploid Cannabis Seeds:

“Holy smoke!!! What a bang!!

I started this critter in my 4x4. It grew super quick. I vegged it for 3.5 months, and voila!! This is by far my favorite new strain. It is literally so strong. Everyone says this, and it will totally make you sleep in! Homerun trilogy!”

Richard Keicher from Aficionado Cannabis left the following:

“Hello Trilogene,
I wanted to share more photos with you. Some were taken on August 23rd, and some were taken last week at harvest. We do not have official test results back yet, but my brother has a test kit, and he said over 30 percent THC. I also did a personal smoke test, and it gets you ripped with just a couple of hits. The plants yielded more than the diploids, and the terps are stronger. Great plant. I started the sour magic and had 16 out of 20 sprouts with 80% germination. Thanks for the extra seeds. I will send the official Sour Bremix test results when I have them."
